About the Role

The Mechanical Manager ensures that all local requirements and national legislation are followed during the execution of the project. This role covers all areas of construction and installation, such as HVAC, sanitary, above-ground drainage (coordinated with CSA), mechanical and electrical, and process equipment installation. The responsible parties must deliver a completed MC (Mechanical Completion) documentation package in a timely manner. Additionally, the Mechanical Manager manages works interfaces and on-site execution, including dispute resolution.

Requirements

  • Responsible and accountable for ensuring the Design Team and other project key members follow the CPDP stages (Stage 3) to ensure that Stage 4 is planned effectively and set for success;

  • To develop good relationships with the client / end-user along with their prospective advisors

  • To identify the Project needs for construction support throughout the project life cycle

  • Monitor change with design and construction management partners, client team, to ensure the impact on site is mitigated/minimized

  • Work with the SHE team and Project Partners in the development of the overall SHE strategy and implementation of the same

  • Provide leadership and management oversight for Contractors and their sub-contractors in the construction/ installation planning, sequencing, coordination, and interfaces management within the extended project delivery team and wider client parties (Operations, Facilities Management, Site SHE and etc.);

  • Ensures that security, materials lay-down areas, project-related logistics, housekeeping, and waste management is planned and managed effectively by others;

  • Is accountable for the implementation of the client GE Client SHE Requirements with the Project Construction SHE Manager including site inspections to ensure safety rules are being followed and used for Reporting and Observation PM-Vitals

  • Review RAMS (as required) and offer recommendations and comments where applicable.

  • Work with the digital delivery partner to ensure installation matches the model, timely reporting of defects, and observations are recorded on the shared platform. We may utilize other digital enabling tools such as scanning and augmented reality (AR)

  • Role includes the timely review of Technical submissions and Requests for information

  • Supporting the construction management contractor with planning on-site logistics and acting as the conduit between the project and client for issues and any arising matters.

  • Is responsible for ensuring the client's Construction Quality requirements with Contractor(s) to ensure that a robust in-process inspection & testing plan is in place. Oversee and manage the approval of onsite mock-ups and samples from Contractor(s) with the client project key members. Oversee the completion and compilation of accurate as-built drawings and Turnover Packages;

  • Attend and chair (where necessary) progress meetings with the Construction Management Company, Trades, Design Team, and client representative, acting as an escalation point and making decisions within your level of governance.

  • Is accountable for the timely closeout of CPDP Stage 4 by Contractor(s) with a robust Mechanical Completion (MC) walk-down process which includes critical Inspection & Testing documentation, clearly identified Punch Items that have been correctly categorized and prioritized for closeout by Contractor;

  • Communicate the Company and Project strategy with the Project SHE and Project Management

  • Construction leads to ensure objectives are met and understood.

  • Supports the Design Team and partners in obtaining A0 and A1 signoffs with contractors and vendors.

  • Take a leading role (Client Side) of the construction site until TORC handover to the local site operations with H0 and/ or H1 certificate signoff by the key Customer Representative team.

  • Develops and maintains a construction PDR Board with an appointed CM partner for the project build sequence and schedule status for team coordination and communication. (Last Planner / TAKT as agreed)

  • Prepare regular reports on the project status, including Health, Safety, and Environmental issues, Quality Assurance, Progress, Risk, and any other matters arising.

  • Ensure specific technical solutions are consistent with client Customer, cost, and schedule requirements.

  • Provide technical support to system Commissioning and Qualification activities.

  • Provide technical approval for critical packages to commence commissioning and qualification activities.

  • Provide technical support for the Take-Over, Process Qualification, and Establishment of batch production, as defined in the Hyper Care strategy.

  • Leads lessons learned for technical work packages and Technical Management.
